Publish your first post
This walks through the composer end-to-end. By the end you'll have published — or scheduled — a post to one or more channels.
1. Open Compose
From the dashboard, choose Compose. This opens the publishing wizard.
2. Pick your destinations
Select one or more connected accounts in the channel picker. You can mix platforms — e.g. one Instagram, one X, one LinkedIn — in a single post. This is cross-posting: one logical post, fanned out to multiple channels.
3. Write your caption
Type your caption in the editor. The character counter adapts to the selected platforms; for example, X free-tier posts are capped at 280 characters, while LinkedIn allows 3,000. See Text & character limits.
You can also set a first comment that will be posted immediately after the main post goes live — useful for hashtags, links, or context you want to keep out of the caption.
Per-channel overrides
Want a different caption on one channel? Use per-channel overrides to tailor text (or other fields) for a specific destination without splitting the post. The post stays a single unit, but each channel can render differently.
4. Attach media
Drop in images or video from your media library or upload new files. The composer validates each asset against the destination platform's media limits — aspect ratio, resolution, duration, file size, and file count — and tells you immediately if something won't pass.
A few examples of what gets enforced:
- Instagram carousel: 1–10 files, images ≤8 MB, video ≤45 Mbps / 15 min.
- TikTok photo mode: JPG/WebP only (PNG is rejected), ≤20 MB each.
- X video: ≤512 MB, ≤140 s on free tier.
5. Publish, schedule, or draft
Choose what happens next:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Publish now | Sends immediately to all selected channels. |
| Schedule | Queues the post for a specific time (per-channel timezone aware). |
| Save draft | Stores it for later; nothing is published. |
If you schedule, the post shows up on the calendar, where you can reschedule by dragging, duplicate it, or review the queue.
6. Watch it ship
Once published, the post moves to Posts. Insights (likes, comments, reach, impressions) sync in over time as the platforms report them — see Analytics.
If something fails on a specific channel (for example, a media asset was
rejected by the platform after submission), the post is marked failed for
that channel with the platform's error message, and you can retry or edit.
